Interfaith Music

The Solaris repertoire of original songs brings a fresh perspective to principles that are common to all spiritual and religious traditions. Through poetic and direct lyrics, evocative melodies, and supportive instrumentation, a Solaris concert aims to give a gift of inspiration, joy, and recognition that supports individuals' journey on the Way, whatever path they may be taking.

With eight or more musicians playing guitar, cello, drums, keyboard, saxophone, accordion, violin, ukulele, banjo, and acoustic bass, Solaris creates a powerful and unique musical experience.

Sharing the message of awareness and compassion

Here are some of the unique ways, in addition to concert tours and special events, that Solaris has used to share the message of interfaith harmony:

Solaris Lyrics Excerpts

All of the Above - Lyrics Sample

Everyone has their own way, to pray and be faithful
Who could say one way is the only way

People find it, climbing mountains, or going fishing
Others find it, in each other, and suddenly start kissing one another
For some it's working the land with their hands, for a humble living

Maybe all of the above, has a higher purpose
All of the above

The world is full of strange behaviours,
but faith is found in many flavors
and everyone has their favourite saviours

People find it, in stone churches, or holy books
Others see it, in their garden, how a flower looks
For some it's lending a hand to someone who's been overlooked

Maybe all of the above has a higher purpose
I guess it's all just god's love, below the surface
All of the above

People find it, in their children, and their families
Others find it, helping strangers, giving back to their community
For some it's taking a stand for the earth, and the ancient trees

Maybe all of the above has a higher purpose
All of the above

The world is full of strange behaviours
but faith is found in many flavors
and everyone has their favourite saviours

People find it, doing nothing, or meditating
Others find it when they're praying, when they're dancing or singing
For some it's in the air, and everywhere, in everything

Maybe all of the above, has a... higher purpose
I guess it's all just god's love, below the surface
All of the above
All of the above

Good Folk Rock - Lyrics Sample

Good folk rock, you rock, you who walk the talk
You who walk that rockin' walk the talk, walk on, rock on

Everyone has some weaknesses and everyone has some strengths
but sometimes folks stand up stand out
I wanna shout - out my thanks

Good folk rock, you rock, you who walk the talk
You who walk that rockin' walk the talk, walk on, rock on

Everyone can feel what is right and everyone has some insight
But some folks follow what they know until their life is like a light

I'm singing to all of you, all of you who all do
your very best to do what's best for all, walk tall, walk tall

Trusty trusting people trusting each other
Humble simple people helping out one another

Friendly folks who find a friend in every stranger
Practising the preaching of loving one another

I'm singing to all of you, all of you who all do
your very best to do what's best for all, walk tall, walk tall

Every Piece - Lyrics Sample

The world's full of people
And they're all related to me
I've got several million relatives
In every country

We are all descendants
And extended family
All the plants and the animals
And all humanity

I'm a brother to the birds
And a cousin to the trees
I'm an uncle to the oceans
And the fishes in the seas

Since we're all related
I have got no enemies
From the greedy politicians
To the sea anemones

Every piece of this world
Is a part of the whole
Every thing that I see
Is connected to me

What I give you
Is a gift to me too
It is all one life
All the way through

High Five - Lyrics Sample

In whatever circumstance
I can remember my right hand
ohh yes I can

Mix that with the Golden Rule
Now we're talkin' real power tools
You know how that one goes

Do....
Unto...
Others as I would have them do to me
oh yeah
It's simple really

Hey you
Time to take a deep breath
Hey you
In this moment do your best
Hey you
There's gold inside you let it lead the way
The rule that rules to a bright day.

If I'm slippin' into a snit
there's no reason to go with it
noooo and that's for sure

So I take a deep breath
feel the beating in my chest
and with that golden sight see how I could be.

(It's) simple but it works
It's kinda hard to act like a jerk
when I'm following it word for word

(It's) simple but it's real
It don't matter how I feel
if I take it to heart embody it into this life art
It works its magic, ohhh
It works its magic, yeah
It works its magic

I Believe - Lyrics Sample

Before I was born, was there some form of me?
After I die, then what will I be? Mmmmm

If I picked the right religion would it save my soul?
Or is the truth inside me hidden that will make me whole?

You know I know there must be more to life than pleasure and pain
more to gain than earthly treasures and fame.

I know you know there must be more to life than pleasure and pain
more to living than just winning at this game.

And I believe it is possible to know all I need to know
yes I believe that I can be, all I was born to be...
